Audio Addicted. Why your deadtime has become so valuable one day?

We all are travelers in modern world, almost every person makes a regular journey to and from some place. The only one difference is the distance. Sometimes you spend several minutes in a car, bus or tram, sometimes it takes several hours in airplane. People usually spend at least an hour going to work each day. It is the bane of adult lives. And we are unable to do something efficient in most cases during this time. Well known that everyone is busy and if you are not, what are you doing in your whole life? You cannot rest, just work.. work.. work.
"There is not enough time to do all the nothing we want to do." Bill Watterson
Average person is working from 9 to 5 from Monday to Friday. It means 8 hours per day plus an hour to spend on commute. Then we have 9 hours busy at work, 8 hours for sleep (and it is not like that all the time). So, for now just 7 hours to do anything we like or to rest. But that is not true, private life needs time for that laundry, dishes, ironing and all other stuff. For all of that we have 7 hours each day (almost another job). With all devices in our lives it is not so hard to fill up the washing machine or dishwasher, but managing this time is very important. Having ‘not enough time’ is just a feeling. Only 24/7, right, but we often fill up the basket of our days with too much stuff that we do not need or like. Often you cannot say ‘no’ to your parents or annoying friends or stop doing over-hours at work (at least until your manager say so). Or sometimes we are just too busy to look around and distinguish the tasks which should be done from the one’s that keep you busy all the time and you keep postponing them. Usually, things that we do not like take far more energy than the other one’s that we do understand or feel like doing.
"To achieve great things, two things are needed; a plan, and not quite enough time."
Leonard Bernstein
Not enough time is our main reason to believe that we are not able to do everything we want. But in this case, you can use time during your commute to act productively. Especially for those who endure long commutes, it could be additional opportunity to settle your own business or just start thinking about it or just to listen one more book or podcast about the things that you are passionate about.
"You will never ‘find’ time for anything. If you want time, you must make it."
Charles Bruxton
Deadtime is so incredibly powerful monster which can easily eat your productivity and ambitions. As for me, traffic congestion is great opportunity to rest by reading or to motivate myself or learn something by listening. Longer trip makes me read several pages more or listen to one more episode of podcasts. Of course, it depends on transport. Because if you are a driver, only audio books or podcasts are the right fit. Just try this. And you will be surprised that it works.
"Take time to deliberate; but when the time for action arrives, stop thinking and go in."
Napoleon Bonaparte
My recent discovery was made in a tram during my commute. I listened to the Business Sidekick podcast and Profit.Power.Pursuit and I found it so great and empowering that I would like to share it with you. These podcasts are useful if you are up to online business (as for me it is very helpful for the entrepreneur to have wide knowledge about things around us) and thinking over how to gain your own audience, how to manage work and collaborate with others or to listen to how other people create opportunities during their lifetime.
“Give yourself an even greater challenge than the one you are trying to master and you will develop the powers necessary to overcome the original difficulty.” William Bennett
Audio books are the other great way to teach your brain to absorb new information during the walk or running exercise. I discovered an Audible from Amazon at the end of 2017 and already listened seven different books and several audible original series. There are numerous audible services, you can pick one whichever you like. It is so easy to listen to the book during any ‘free’ time you have. Of course, you can fly away from the narrator sometimes, but still you can pause or turn back anytime. Therefore, your mind is curious about new things, you create more ideas and that is great. You should just be ready to jot that down. Go about your business and your happiness will come to you.
“Happiness is like a cat, If you try to coax it or call it, it will avoid you; it will never come. But if you pay not attention to it and go about your business, you'll find it rubbing against your legs and jumping into your lap.” William Bennett
In my opinion, we all should find new ways to develop ourselves and make our life and business better even when we do not have time for this. And the main step is - make changes to your daily routine.
"The bad news is time flies. The good news is you’re the pilot." Michael Altshule
For many of us, commuting to work is one of our largest recurring costs of energy. Find your way of enjoying it, pick a powerful combination of the ideas you are interested in, and start exploring it during your morning and evening journey. Stop staring at other people and buildings, start your day from your passion during the commute. You’ll be amazed at how much thoughts you can reveal for yourself. And because of this the deal is much interesting for you and your ideas will grow faster each day.
"Time management is life management." Robin Sharma
Keep moving in your own pace, make your way of success. Because there, by all means, you will have the best chances to grow and implement your ideas in real life.
